How it works

Gentle microsuction, done properly

Blocked ears are miserable — muffled hearing, fullness, sometimes ringing or discomfort. Our pharmacist uses microsuction, widely regarded as the safest and most comfortable method of ear wax removal: a gentle vacuum removes the wax under direct vision, with no water flushed into the ear.

Examination first

We start by examining both ears to confirm wax is actually the problem. If we see anything that needs a GP or specialist instead, we'll tell you straight away rather than treating unnecessarily.

Gentle removal

Microsuction removes wax precisely and comfortably, without syringing water into the ear — which is why it suits many people who can't have traditional irrigation.

Prepare with olive oil

For the best result, soften the wax with olive oil drops two or three times a day for a few days before your appointment — it makes removal quicker and more comfortable.

Adults, both ears checked

The service is for adults, and we'll always check and advise on both ears. If no wax is found, we'll examine and advise — ask us for details when booking.

Pricing

Clear, all-inclusive pricing

The ear check is included in the microsuction price — the two are not added together.

Ear check only — £15

Examination of both ears. This is all you pay if you just want your ears checked, or if we examine you and find no wax removal is needed.

One ear — £45

Ear check included. Examination plus wax removal from one ear. You do not pay the £15 on top.

Both ears — £60

Ear check included. Examination plus wax removal from both ears. You do not pay the £15 on top.

To be completely clear: if you come in and have both ears treated, you pay £60 in total — not £75. The £15 ear check is only charged on its own when no wax removal is carried out.

Does it hurt?

Most people find microsuction comfortable — you'll hear the suction working, which can feel odd but shouldn't be painful. Softening the wax with olive oil beforehand makes the experience gentler still.

Why won't my GP remove ear wax anymore?

Many GP practices no longer offer routine wax removal, which is exactly why we provide it locally — professionally, promptly, and without a long wait.

Do I pay the £15 check on top of the removal price?

No. The £45 and £60 prices already include the ear check. You would only pay £15 on its own if you came in for a check and no wax removal was carried out.

How do I book?

What if it isn't wax?

That's why we examine first. If your symptoms are caused by something else — an infection, for example — we'll advise on the right treatment or refer you to your GP rather than proceeding.
